2008 SC Book Festival Authors featured in Speaker at the Center Series
Thursday, 08 November 2007

The South Carolina Center for the Book is proud to announce that the next several installments of its popular Speaker at the Center series will feature authors scheduled to appear at the 2008 SC Book Festival.  The 12th Annual SC Book Festival will be held February 22-24, 2008 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center in Columbia, SC and is a program of The Humanities Council SC.  The festival presents a diversified group of authors, poets, and scholars to the readers and writers of South Carolina free of charge. The SC Book Festival offers panel discussions and presentations on a variety of popular genres and literary topics, from the latest trends in new fiction to regional favorites to outstanding poetry performances.

In summer 2007, the SC Center for the Book initiated a Speaker at the Center series.  The SCCFTB hosts at least one speaker per quarter to give a self-contained, one hour talk on the area of his or her academic expertise, latest publication, or other book-related topic of interest to the general population.  From now until the SC Book Festival in February, the SC Center for the Book will host one of the festival’s featured authors per month.  The program is free and open to the public and attendees should feel free to bring a bag lunch.

The South Carolina Center for the Book is the South Carolina Affiliate of the Library of Congress Center for the Book and is a cooperative project of the South Carolina State Library, the University of South Carolina School of Library and Information Science, and the Humanities Council SC. The Center is located at 1430 Senate, Columbia, SC, in the SC Center for the Book & Talking Books Reading Room.
