This is the forty-sixth issue of the South Carolina Arts Commission Literary Arts Bulletin, a twice-monthly e-publication designed to provide a coordinated, comprehensive listing of literary events across the state. Each issue provides a list of the next four weeks of literary activities on our calendar, along with a few highlights of other upcoming events. Third Annual Pee Dee Fiction and Poetry Festival at Francis Marion The Third Annual Pee Dee Fiction and Poetry Festival at Francis Marion University will take place November 6-8, 2008. This year, six internationally recognized authors- Tom Perrotta, Ethan Canin, Valerie Martin, Robert Wrigley, Dorianne Laux, and Sara Gran- will read and discuss their work. KAKALAK: Anthology of Carolina Poets The 2009 Kakalak Anthology of Carolina Poets is underway! Don't wait to the last minute (the Holiday rush). Instead, send your poetry and art in now. Acceptance dates are October 1, 2008, to January 10, 2009. Before submitting, read the guidelines posted on the website at www.kakalak.net. The Kakalak Poetry Contest & Art Competition will represent the best poetry and art being created in North and South Carolina today. Please review guidelines at www.kakalak.net before entering.
